from a film Daisy has just watched - and loved
"the measure of success is how well you deal with disappointment!"
I think this sums up, quite beautifully, how well I'm dealing with myself right now".
"Goodnight and sweet dreams!" with love from Daisy.
This is me, getting going again and loving every minute. Writing, blogging and cooking - doing all the things I love, like being with my family, keeping in touch with kith and kin and now, wishing my piano lessons were still ongoing - how cool is that, hey?

Hi there Daisy's back from London
Daisy had a very good time away and amongst all the good things, there was time for a little reflection on recent issues and mostly on her blog proposal - that willing UK adult citizens and, possibly adult Commonwealth citizens, could donate a sum of not less than £5.00 per head, to a fund to buy Her Majesty the Queen, a new Royal Yacht.
It seemed very good to Daisy, watching Andrew Marr's BBC1 television programme, The Diamond Queen, just a couple of weeks ago, and it still does so today, Sunday, 26th February.
Daisy has discussed her proposal with many people, young and old, and what's mostly been expressed is the view that Her Majesty could probably buy her own new yacht, if that was desired; but then again, some expressed the view that Her Majesty might be somewhat discomforted by the acquisiton of a new royal vessel when many of her subjects were suffering great difficulty under the present UK and worldwide economic situation. Many people envisage ever tougher days ahead and do we really know how difficult things could become?
However, as Daisy rightly points out, even in difficult times, somehow people manage to buy gifts and presents to mark significant celebrations, even small ones. Familys celebrate loved ones' longevity, long years of work and major wedding anniversaries, finding suitable ways to express their appreciation, respect and thanks.
This year, our present monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll, celebrates the 60th anniversary of her Accession, making her the longest reigning monarch in living memory. Daisy feels this is a very significant and impressive anniversary and deserving of much celebration and respect.
"As we respect our own individual celebratory occasions, would it not be very nice and pleasing to join together, in one huge and magnificent outpouring of national respect and admiration, and present to Her Majesty a combined present in this the 60th anniversary of her Accession?".
"Of course, a new vessel could cost much more than we could possibly raise from small individual donations but, you know how it is, once somebody's got the ball rolling, it's amazing how suddenly other donations come pouring in! We just might do it; let's try?".

Daisy Morton has just watched....
Daisy Morton has just watched the third and final programme of Andrew Marr's "The Diamond Queen" on BBC1 television tonight and now, somewhat misty-eyed and rather choked of voice, she's writing this short blog in a vain attempt to put her feelings into coherent speech.
"What an amazing golden jubilee tribute Andrew Marr has produced and covering, in three hour-long programmes, the 60 years Her Majesty has reigned over us, her people and her country; and The Commonwealth.
Her Majesty has carried out an enormous and varied amount of duties and ceremonial occasions and has remained at the centre of all of our lives for all that time.
She is, and has always been, the constant and unwavering presence in our national life and I, for one, am very glad this has been so.
Daisy Morton can personally remember dressing up for their pageant to mark Her Majesty's Coronation with an outfit decorated with red, white and blue crepe paper and wearing a similarly dressed straw hat and still has the photograph of that occasion.
Daisy can remember her own father being presented to Her Majesty and the occasion when she was present at a Royal Garden Party.
"We have a Royal Monarch who is, as our Queen, our National Identity and, our National Treasure and we are most fortunate in claiming Her Majesty for our own Queen".
These are Daisy Morton's own views and opinions which are most dearly held and believed in.

The Daisy Morton Charitable Trust fund...
"What if?" she'd thought...
"Supposing she opened a trust fund with her (not less than) £5.00 donation and then told everybody, via Daisy's blog about her donation, would her blog followers do the same?".
"Would they also gift a donation of not less than £5.00 towards a fund to buy Her Majesty the Queen a new Royal Britannia, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of her Accession to the UK throne?".
Daisy's going to find out about the possibility of doing this and then, just in case other folk are willing to make their contribution to the fund, they will be able to do so immediately and without any delay.
"Now, wouldn't that be good?" she's thinking!
"hmmm, the Daisy Morton Charitable Trust Fund to buy Her Majesty the Queen a new Royal Yacht Britannia - doesn't that sound good?".
NB must watch the Andrew Marr progamme - The Diamond Queen - on BBC1 tonight.

"Why, why, why she wonders do computers suddenly start behaving oddly; not letting you have the fonts, and font size and line spacing you need, for absolutely no apparent reason at all?".
"It's very odd" she cried "and very frustrating, this being held up by a computer who's decided to make life almost impossible by playing up".
"Perhaps tomorrow it will decide to play ball and co-operate?".
"And another thing, why can't I find biodegradeable poo bags for my dogs; surely some firm, somewhere, must do?!".
"Thank goodness it's Sunday evening and time to sit down and watch something on the tv", she said.

Back at home....
Meanwhile, there are birthdays and birthday lunching at home, and shopping with birthday monies; and her son passing his driving test - wheeee!
And meeting up with friends for drinks and catch-up chattings.
She also keeps a daily dairy of how she's not writing that next book for Kindle and when is she going to get on with it - I mean, it was last year the inspiration came from their travels in Scotland, so it really is about time to finish that project before beginning another one.
But as she always says -
"it's much easier to begin than to go on...!" but go on she must, somehow.
"watch this space for further news".
Another meanwhile, there's much reading to do about Royal Britannia and much info online about her, so plenty to do whilst trying to get on with the writing...!

She found a great deal of interesting stuff under - "can we build a new Royal Britannia today" - and seemingly, many people out there, think we can.
"It makes for very interesting reading".
"And isn't any vessel a pretty sight, out there on the blue briny, happily sailing or steaming away, into the distant yonder, or just chugging round and about and having fun!".
She's a confirmed land lubber and happy to be so, although cruising aroud the Greek islands was fun, many years ago; but a sighting of any craft always makes for a happy vision!

There's a lot of it going on...!
Letters have been sent off today; then she discovered that many other people have been discussing the very same idea; that is, building a new royal yacht for Her Majesty. The costing has been estimated at 80m. and designs and drawings drawn up, and governmental people are looking into the various schemes.
"From what she's read, it's that vexing question of raising donations from interested parties. Not the tax payer as such, but people seem to be concerned that because of the difficult economic situation we're presently in, it's the thought that you and me won't want to assist financially in any way, or even, at all?
"Well, yes" she's thinking, perhaps some folk might not want t,o or be able to, "but surely, some folk will. Some concerned, diehard, enthusiastic Monarchists will want to do something, even if it's only a relatively minor sum like £5.00 per head per adult UK citizen!">
"Won't we want to do our bit?" she asks.
"Stand together, for something we believe in, and be apart of something larger than ourselves".
"A something else, apart from every day day worries and problems; and something that will raise us up and out of the normal course of events, propelling us into a new dimension and a new awareness of ourselves and part of a much bigger adventure and enterprise".
"Something worthy of and for a new century; this 21st century we are in right now".
"Something for the future which we can instigate today and run forward with it in its entirety, until its completion. That particular thing called endeavour, pride, inclusion and involvement?".
She thinks its called life and here we are, hoping to be able to become part of our future lives, and it starts right here and now.
"And she for one wants to sign up on the dotted line and become involved in this bright new future endeavour - even if she can only ever play a tiny, miniscule fraction of a part".
"For however small a part it is that we play, no-one will ever be able to take that away from us, that tiny involvement, our inclusion in a project to do something for our Queen, country and future!".

A proposal for St. Valentine's Day
it's 10.35 pm and she's been writing to people, trying to get her proposal taken up by various folks who might be able to further her cause.
It's a good cause and one she is becoming passionate about. "will it run?" she asks herself.
"Will she be able to convince others of the viability and capability of her proposals to illuminate this 21st century we find ourselves in, and take it further than at first thought possible!
Can we lift ourselves out of the economic gloom the world has settled down into, change our world situation, and uplift and enrich our world and include all peoples in our bright futures.
Meanwhile - "please watch this space?" she asks
"Foster a proposal, talk to it kindly and help it grow!".
Watch this space - who knows what could happen if we all try together...!!!
Happy St. Valentine's Day to everyone - that's all for today folks...!

Daisy Morton has just been watching tonight's BBC1 television programme The Diamond Queen, to mark Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, this year.
On the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen's Accession to the throne of the United Kingdom, I wish to propose that we, her loyal subjects, should buy Her Majesty a new Royal Yacht, as a mark of the respect, love and gratitude that we hold for her as our Sovereign and Queen and to thank her for her long reign as our Monarch.
I propose that the new Royal Yacht should be for Her Majesty's own personal use and for the continuance of Her Royal duties around our own native shores, and for her Royal and Ceremonial duties for the Commonwealth and other world destinations.
And to this end, I also propose that each adult citizen of the United Kingdom should gift a sum of no less than £5.00 towards the expense of such a vessel.
Prompt Discussions Please would be much appreciated.

Well, this must be a quick post tonight for it's late, she's had a busy day and she wanted to read more of her present book at bedtime - Wait for Me by Deborah Devonshire - which she is thoroughly enjoying.
She's read many of the books about The Mitford Girls, as they were called and Deborah Devonshire is the last of the particular family line. Her books are very good.
Today has been good and finally she feels she's beginning to get over that annoying tummy bug which laid her so low over the end of last week and the weekend.
The morning was full of chores and hair washing - urrgh! - but then she had her first reflexology session which was totally brilliant, and she can't wait for her next session!
Then a cosy hour playing with Dora's baby, who's enchanting, followed by a large mug of tea in front of the television.
Then to the kitchen to make a chicken risotto for tonight's supper followed by two of the favourite Sunday night programmes of the winter; the midwife's story and dear old Lewis. Bliss!!

Hi there,
Well she was feeling much better today and so after a lazy morning doing a little sorting and clearing up she decided to go shoppping; but it was so cold she came home with only a few purchases. Then some lunch, just something light after yesterday, so scrambled eggs and toast went down a treat, with the dogs watching her every movement. They so wanted to go out for a walk, how could she resist them?
Actually, it was pretty cool out on that snowy field, with the bright sun beaming down, making diamonds out of ice crystals in the snow, and lighting up the trees in brilliant relief. The pale-powdery-blue coloured sky was a perfect foil for the sun's rays and, altogether, it was magical.
The dogs thought so too, but for other reasons. Tails up and noses down, they were running backwards and forwards over the crisp snow, loving every minute of their walk, which unfortunately for them, was rather too short!
Home to a large mug of tea and a shot at getting her latest video up and running for Valentine's Day which, finally after supper, she managed. The others were watching an old Western on the television, so everybody was content with their evening's viewing.
And she'd received a text from a friend thanking her for the two chunks of friendship cake, given that morning, and saying how much it had been enjoyed.....which was brilliant.
She had also finished a sweet poem for two young friends getting married this year, which was very pleasing.

queued-up and slowing down!
"Well, folk aren't the only objects to be caught up in queues!. Just look at my desk, my list of "to do's" and my almost empty out-tray", laughing, almost weeping with despair, she turned away from her cluttered desk and closed her study door with a heavy bang.
"And what've I done today, had my hair done, cooked supper, made stock, cooked a batch of batter, walked the dogs, and cleared some paperwork. Even getting up early this morning; what was it now, 5.30 a.m. and still didn't manage to attack one of my writing projects?".
She had been quite busy really and the dogs were so muddy from their walk, it had taken her some time to rub them down and wipe their grubby paws.
"And isn't tomorrow the magazine deadline to close with? Well, tomorrow will be another early start, and no mistake, and things will just have to get done and some chores left for another day!".
She was beginning to feel a little sorry for herself when another thought wave flagged itself up.
"Hey ho!, but didn't Pam call me, and didn't we have a good 'phone natter, and wasn't that good?", she was almost grining now!.
"And my cooking stint included making two batches of the friendship cake batter, given to me by that nice girl Sally, the one who loves all things American!", wow, she exclaimed
"And now there's enough cake for Susie, Judy, Prue and me when we all get together for coffee next week.".
She was getting going now, wrapping up her cake bake, labelling it and storing it away in her freezer for their next date, and much happier than she was just 20 minutes ago
"Projects can wait, people can't, and now I can get back to my work tomorrow knowing I'm all ready for next week; there won't even be any need to have a panic-Monday-evening wondering what I can find to feed them on!".
"I deserved a break and, you know what, I bet my work will go with a swing because I've taken time out today to do other things!".
"Isn't life great when you take a break from work-queues and connect with life-enhancing matters, once in a while?"
"Maybe I'll plan a weekly break from routine queues and do something entirely different, and for me,
just because I can; think of it as a battery-recharging exercise to get me thru' to the next weekend, with more projects finished on time. And more contact with my girlfriends!".

And another time...!
There she was, going into the surgery waiting room, and some chap was already collecting his meds.
So she walked forward and stood, patiently waiting, when suddenly, another collectee loomed into sight and - goodness me, he edged past her and was about to take her place in the queue!!!
"Oh I say, you're already queuing?" he nonchantly enquired. "so sorry!"
"Yes, I am; and waiting to get my meds. "And waiting, and minding my p's and q's and ......"
"Well, I'll just stand here behind you then, shall I? "It's so easy these days for folk to queue-jump, don't you think?"
"Well, actually yes. And some people just do, and don't blush to be seen doing it!" She smiled. He looked a nice chap, and the collectee seemed to be getting very involved with his collection.
So they chatted and were cracking jokes and making pleasantries when - blow me down - a new
collectee of meds, stepped forward, and past them, siting himself right behind the chap at the counter, ready to take his place the moment he left, which he did the very next moment!!!
"Well!" she and he both said in chorus, laughing fit to bust.
"If that doesn't take the biscuit, then I'm a cream cracker, and no joke!" said he of the more elderly
persuasion.
"What a joke!" "And on us, and no doubt rightly earned," "Taking our eyes off the pan, just at the critmical moment, and losing our footing just when we thought we'd got the situation under contro!"
"It's a good thing we've got time to chat and idle away our day?"
"But... must hurry home and get on with the cooking before She, who must be obeyed, comes home rom the hairdresser's expecting to find lunch ready and waiting!"

Reposting of 1st blog post 7th Feb. 2012 - l Reposting on 30th June 2015 - My little bit of midsummer madness!!!
"why don't they have two baristas on duty, every day, instead of just one?" said the lady joining the queue
"yes, I agree with you, "why not another one on duty, at the same time?" this from the guy in the queue behind her, who'd just let her in, to be with her other half.
"I mean, one chap can't do the coffee, get out the cups and saucers, prep the food orders, etc...? He was warming to his theme now; he could tell she was getting anxious!
"it's costs, that's what it is, plain old-fashioned cost cutting! abandoning guilt, in favour of humour!
"hey, look, he's blushing; must've heard us grumbling!" this from the patient bloke.
"well, let's see what's now. Look, he's grinning!" things are getting better, she thought
"And smiling!" even better still!.
"That'll be £1.75 please?" real imput from the duty Barista!
"I've only a £20.00 note and no change at all?" said she!
"Why, thank you; that will do just nicely. We'll take all we get, every day!"
"Well, why don't you go and cook some, in your kitchen, and while you're about it, we'll have some too. 5 notes all around."
"Oooh I say, let's not be greedy!" said her companion, patiently waiting to be served
"No, better make that 6 notes each, just to be safe" said she, laughing.
"Oh me oh my, you're good, just too good" their friendly barista was now laughing, and grinning fit
to bust.
"You can come again, any day, you're mighty powerful medicine!!"
"And that" said Daisy "was that, and it's still only coffee time; and he was having a late breakfast."
"The rest of the day was still before them, whatever next!" she wondered.
