queued-up and slowing down!

"Well, folk aren't the only  objects to be caught up in queues!.  Just look at my desk, my list of "to do's" and my almost empty out-tray", laughing, almost weeping with despair, she turned away from her cluttered desk and closed her study door with a heavy bang.

"And what've I done today, had my hair done, cooked supper, made stock, cooked a batch of batter, walked the dogs, and cleared some paperwork.  Even getting up early this morning; what was it now, 5.30 a.m. and still didn't manage to attack one of my writing projects?".

She had been quite busy really and the dogs were so muddy from their walk, it had taken her some time to rub them down and wipe their grubby paws.

"And isn't tomorrow the magazine deadline to close with?  Well, tomorrow will be another early start, and no mistake, and things will just have to get done and some chores left for another day!".

She was beginning to feel a little sorry for herself when another thought wave flagged itself up.

"Hey ho!, but didn't Pam call me, and didn't we have a good 'phone natter, and wasn't that good?", she was almost grining now!.

"And my cooking stint included making two batches of the friendship cake batter, given to me by that nice girl Sally, the one who loves all things American!", wow, she exclaimed

"And now there's enough cake for Susie, Judy, Prue and me when we all get together for coffee next week.".

She was getting going now, wrapping up her cake bake, labelling it and storing it away in her freezer  for their next date, and much happier than she was just 20 minutes ago

"Projects can wait, people can't, and now I can get back to my work tomorrow knowing I'm all ready for next week; there won't even be any need to have a panic-Monday-evening wondering what I can find to feed them on!".

"I deserved a break and, you know what, I bet my work will go with a swing because I've taken time out today to do other things!".

"Isn't life great when you take a break from work-queues and connect with life-enhancing matters, once in a while?"

"Maybe I'll plan a weekly break from routine queues and do something entirely different, and for me,
just because I can; think of it as a battery-recharging exercise to get me thru' to the next weekend, with more projects finished on time.  And more contact with my girlfriends!".
